LEGACY TRAINING GROUP - FOUNDATIONAL PISTOL (2-DAY COURSE) COURSE OVERVIEW The LTG Foundational Pistol Course is a 2-day foundational program designed to build safe, confident, and effective handgun shooters. Whether this is your first formal training class or you’re refreshing fundamentals, this course provides the essential building blocks required for all future pistol development. Training includes a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on range time, focusing on safety, marksmanship, manipulation skills, and practical shooting fundamentals. TRAINING OBJECTIVES By the end of this course, students will be able to: Firearms Handling Demonstrate safe firearms handling at all times Understand and apply LTG range protocols and safety expectations Show proper loading, unloading, and administrative handling procedures Pistol Function & Operation Identify and understand major handgun components Explain the cycle of operation for semi-automatic pistols Understand ammunition basics, sight options, and holster selection Marksmanship Fundamentals Establish proper grip, stance, index, and trigger control Understand sight alignment vs. sight picture Apply follow-through and recoil management techniques Successfully engage targets at beginner-appropriate distances Malfunction Clearing Diagnose common malfunctions using simple, repeatable methods Clear all types of malfunctions Return the pistol to a firing condition under minimal stress COURSE SCHEDULE Classroom-  Foundations of Pistol Shooting Welcome & student introductions Safety briefing & LTG range expectations Firearms handling overview Firearm components & cycle of operation Sights, triggers, ammunition, holsters Marksmanship fundamentals Introduction to malfunctions Range Live-Fire Application Safety walk-through and range orientation Zero-distance diagnostic shooting Controlled slow-fire accuracy drills Grip, stance, and recoil management reinforcement Progressive marksmanship engagements Live-fire malfunction clearing Final standards-based string of fire AAR (After Action Review) & next-steps guidance WHO SHOULD ATTEND This course is ideal for: New handgun owners Students preparing for concealed carry Shooters wanting a professional foundation Anyone returning to shooting after time off No prior experience is required.
