Waiver and Release of Liability
WHEREAS, in consideration of the use of the shooting range and facilities operated by Hillsdale College, and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, the Undersigned agrees to the following:
The Undersigned hereby acknowledges and agrees to have voluntarily applied to use the shooting range and facilities operated by Hillsdale College. It is understood and acknowledged that the use of a shooting range in which others, as well as the Undersigned, are engaged in shooting activities involves inherent extreme hazards, dangers, and risks. The Undersigned represents that he/she is physically able, emotionally stable, and fully competent to participate in training and shooting activities and that he/she freely, knowingly, and voluntarily assumes the risks of participating in such activities, including the risks of possible exposure to contagion by being around others, property damage, bodily harm, and death.
The Undersigned acknowledges, understands, and agrees to follow all shooting range and facilities rules and directives.
The Undersigned affirms that he/she has and will refrain from being under the influence of alcoholic beverages or medications that might impair judgment prior to, and during, shooting sports activities. Further, the Undersigned affirms that he/she understands the possession and influence of unlawful drugs is expressly prohibited on Hillsdale College property, and that Hillsdale College, as the owner of this property, reserves the right to deny access or to require the removal of any guest from the premises for any reason it deems necessary.
The Undersigned affirms, under penalty of law and perjury, that he/she can legally possess or rent a firearm and that he/she has no criminal or mental background that restricts the Undersigned from such possession.
The Undersigned acknowledges that certain ammunition is restricted on this range and that he/she may not use steel or aluminum case, armor piercing, steel core, incendiary, tracer, or reloaded ammunition outside of manufacturers’ specifications. If such is used, any damages resulting from such use may be billed directly to the Undersigned.
In addition, the Undersigned does for himself/herself, and on behalf of his/her heirs, executors, administrators, officers, directors, owners, partners, agents, brokers, employees, insures, and assigns, hereby releases, acquits, indemnifies, and holds harmless Hillsdale College and its heirs, executors, administrators, trustees, officers, directors, owners, partners, agents, brokers, employees, insurers, assigns, and all other related persons, entities, affiliates, predecessors, and successors, from any and all claims, actions in law or equity, causes of actions, demands, rights, damages, costs, loss of services, expenses, and compensation whatsoever arising from any illness, damage to property, injury to person, or death, (whether predicated upon negligence or otherwise) in connection with attending an event, being in contact with other attendees and the use of Hillsdale College’s shooting range and facilities or participation in any activities therein. The Undersigned takes full legal and financial responsibility for any illness, damage or harm to himself/herself, and to his/her minor guests, if any, and for damages or harm to other individuals on the premises, rental equipment, or other range equipment that is a result of the actions of the Undersigned and/or his/her minor guests.

Basic Range Safety Rules
ALWAYS point all firearms in a safe direction
ALWAYS keep your finger outside the trigger until you are ready to fire
ALWAYS keep your firearm unloaded until you are ready to fire
ALWAYS treat every firearm as if it were loaded
Know your target and what is beyond
Know and obey all range commands
Shoot only at authorized targets
Do not handle a firearm or stand at the firing line where firearms are present while others are downrange
STOP shooting immediately when the command CEASE FIRE is given
Everyone has the right and responsibility to call CEASE FIRE if you witness an unsafe condition
Eye and ear protection are required at all times while in the shooting area
All ammunition is subject to inspection and approval
All handguns, rifles, and shotguns are subject to approval
Only one (1) person may be shooting in a booth at a time unless accompanied by an instructor
Never shoot on the range if you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs
Smoking is not permitted on the range or in the Lodge
Firearms should be unloaded when not shooting or moving between Stations
If you have a stoppage/malfunction, keep gun pointed down range. Ask range staff for assistance if needed
Sporting Clays –
Stay on the trail. Do not go forward of the stands
Do not attempt to maintenance target machines

Hillsdale College Media Release
Hillsdale College, a Michigan nonprofit corporation, is a liberal arts college dedicated to academic excellence and institutional independence. Hillsdale College and its collaborators may conduct oral interviews, photograph or film, collect documents and other tangible and electronic objects, host events, create educational materials and news articles, and create work product and merchandise (such as books and video) for sale or distribution (collectively, “Materials”). Some of these Materials may include images or other recordings of the individual named below (“Participant”).
By signing this Authorization Agreement and Release (“Agreement”), Participant agrees to allow Hillsdale College to use the Materials in connection with its nonprofit mission (the “Mission”), including, without limitation, preparation of a brochure to be used in fund-raising any of its purposes or uses.
Hillsdale College may record Participant’s statements, image, voice, comments, and actions (“Likeness”). Hillsdale College may use the recordings and Materials in any lawful manner relating to its Mission. The recordings may become a permanent part of Hillsdale College’s collections and will be made available to educate students or to encourage donors to give to Hillsdale College. The Materials are the property of Hillsdale College and Participant waives any claim to rights in the Materials.
This permission is for all media now known or later developed, worldwide, royalty-free, and in perpetuity. It is for the benefit of Hillsdale College, its licensees, successors, and assigns.
Participant releases Hillsdale College from any liability (and agrees not to sue Hillsdale College) for its use of Participant’s Likeness as described in this Agreement or otherwise permitted by law.
Participant is over the age of eighteen (18). If Participant is not 18 years of age, the undersigned is the parent or legal guardian of the Participant and the parent or legal guardian represents that he/she has the legal authority to sign this Agreement on behalf of the Participant.
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Michigan. It is the entire agreement between Participant and Hillsdale College.
Participant has not been promised anything in exchange for this Agreement.
By signing this Agreement, the Undersigned affirms that he/she has read, understands, and will comply with the requirements as set for the herein, and does hereby agree to defend, indemnify, and hold Hillsdale College, its shareholders, officers, managers, assigns, heirs, or employees harmless from any act or omission for which the Undersigned and/or his/her minor guests is/are directly or indirectly responsible. This instrument binds the Undersigned and his/her executors, administrators, assignees or heirs.
