This class prepares new firearm owners for the responsibilities that come with firearm ownership. It is every firearm owners’ responsibility to safely store, safely handle, and safely train.
Age minimum: 13 years old. This is a required class to become an NRA Instructor.
Module 1 Firearm Basics "Let's Talk Guns"(2 hours) (6:00 PM to 9:00 PM)
In this segment we will examine the various types of handguns. From Semi-Automatics to Revolvers, single action, and double action firearms, to hammer driven and striker driven, we will explore them all.
At the end of this module, you will understand and have learned firearm terminology, basic firearm fundamentals, and will have graduated to Basic Handguns Module 2
Classroom Time: Welcome to the NRA Basic Pistol Class. This class is taught to hundreds of students a year in California. Students will learn pistol types, operation, maintenance, ammunition fundamentals, grip, stance, aiming, trigger control, breathing and follow-through.
Range Time: (Modules 2 & 3 Only) Students will also perform live fire exercises learning the basics of handling and shooting your firearm accurately. Although using your own firearm is highly recommended, we are happy to provide you with one to complete the training! Please let us know if you need to use a firearm for this class. If you have your own firearm, please bring 100 cartridges to complete the class.
Ammo Packages are available during this course. (Modules 2 & 3 Only) Ammunition used during the course can be provided at regular market value. .22LR pistols will be provided with ammo however the use of KW Defense's Rage guns will be provided at no cost however store ammo must be purchased. California State law prohibits students from leaving the range with this ammo. All full and unused boxes will be refunded on-site. Ammo calibers available are 22LR, .40, 9MM, .45, .380 & .38 Special.

Module 2 Firearm Mechanics. (3 hours) (6:00 PM to 9:00 PM)
The scariest part of guns is the fear of the unknown. Let’s take the scary out of firearms. By the end of this module, you will be comfortable while handling firearms.
Let’s understand the Bang” In this segment we will follow the path from pulling the trigger to the bullet leaving the barrel. We will study the firing cycle of a firearm along with looking at the identifying the wide variety of ammo and calibers. Cleaning and maintaining your firearm is just as important as safety. We will cover how to disassemble and clean your firearm.
Whats Next? Now your ready for Module 3!

Module 3 Let’s go Pro (3 hours) (6:00 PM to 9:00 PM)
In this Module we take all the fundamentals, we have explored in Modules 1-2 and put them to the test on the range. During our time on the range, we will focus on our marksmanship, range etiquette, and above all safety. We will end the segment on the range discussing both proper cleaning and proper maintenance of our firearms.
