Recommended: Previous Firearm Experience (Pre-class shooting instruction is available)
This class is required for first time applicants and satisfies the renewal class requirements as well as Florida and Oregon training qualification. Classroom and required shooting qualification are done in our climate controlled facility. You will experience our Digital Simulator as well as our indoor shooting lanes (equipped with one of the most advanced targetry systems available).

The “Intro to Handgun” workshop is designed for an individual who is new to firearms or seeking to review basic fundamentals. The class starts in the classroom and progresses to the live fire range where single shot and multiple rounds with and without using sights will be practiced.
Hour 1: Basics of firearms
Hours 1-1.5: Firing the weapons, putting into practice what was learned in hour one
Hours 1.5-3: Mike and Jake will discuss red flag laws, the need for clinicians to understand gun culture. Rob and Mike discussing their anecdotes from the road related to why gun owners are afraid to seek help, and Q&A from attendees.
At the end of this course, attendees will: improve their understanding of the stigma related to mental health care among gun owners; learn how to validate emotional experiences of gun owners; increase their empathy and understanding related to gun culture, Improve their understanding of guns, broadly, including types, classes, and uses; gain new information on expected standards and need for clinical contributions to the field; understand “red flag laws” and clinician responsibility and ethical scope in Nevada.
